Find a U.S. Dairy Supplier

Common Questions

This directory only lists companies that are members of the U.S. Dairy Export Council (USDEC). USDEC's membership represents about 85% of the U.S. dairy industry.

The U.S. Dairy Export Council is a non-profit independent membership association that represents U.S. dairy producers, proprietary processors and cooperatives, ingredient suppliers and export traders. As such, we do not produce or directly sell any dairy products but rather represent the companies that do. Our robust U.S. Dairy Supplier Directory is a great resource offering a comprehensive listing of U.S. dairy suppliers by product type and specific requisite attributes.

The U.S. Dairy Export Council represents its full and diverse membership of fine companies and organizations. As such, we do not recommend one supplier over another. We encourage you to contact suppliers directly as the partner that works best for your company's individual needs will depend on your unique product and specification needs.

U.S. suppliers offer a wide range of highly-demanded dairy products and ingredients. However, this directory is not meant to represent an exhaustive list of all products and, in particular, specifications available. Try refining your search, filtering by product alone, and leaving attribute and certification filters unselected. Then you may contact the U.S. dairy suppliers of that product directly for detailed specification information.

Please also check the U.S. Dairy Supplier Directory periodically for potential new listings, as our list of suppliers is always changing, and so are their products and capabilities.

Due to rising global demand for U.S. dairy products, the large volume of inquiries and prevailing supply circumstances, we regret that not all inquiries may receive an immediate response. You may wish to try again at a later date as supply circumstances evolve. Flexibility in the product and specifications required as well as longer lead times may also enhance your prospects of success.

Please also check the U.S. Dairy Supplier Directory periodically for potential new listings, as our list of suppliers is always changing, and so, too, are their products and capabilities.

Market prices for U.S. dairy products are influenced by global demand and supply forces, as well as product-specific attributes such as specifications, functionality, etc. Please contact U.S. dairy suppliers directly for the latest pricing information.

To find out more about current global dairy commodity prices, you may download USDEC's Commodity Price Finder app on your smartphone or tablet. Please search for 'dairy price finder' in the iTunes or Google play app store.

U.S. milk processors and manufacturers of dairy products and ingredients are fully invested in assuring the quality and protecting the safety of the milk they receive from U.S. dairy farmers in order to deliver the finest products and ingredients to customers. Their efforts are supplemented by rigorous government oversight to further protect consumers.

In terms of quality, safety and nutrition, there's no difference between organic and regular milk. Both contain the same combination of nutrients that make dairy foods an important part of a healthy diet. The vast majority of the United States' dairy product and ingredient portfolio is conventionally produced, with limited volume of organic production.

The U.S. Dairy Supplier Directory is searchable for both conventional and organic dairy products and ingredients. Once you've selected the product category, you will have the option of selecting an organic certification parameter to search within.

Please also note that this directory only lists companies that are members of the U.S. Dairy Export Council. It is therefore limited to these companies and does not represent the entire U.S. dairy industry selection.

The U.S. Dairy Export Council focuses solely on U.S.-sourced dairy products made from cow's milk only.

Whole milk powder accounted for less than 3% of total U.S. milk powder production in 2013. The U.S. dairy industry is in the process of boosting production of whole milk powder including building brand new plants to serve global customers. Please continue to check the U.S. Dairy Supplier Directory periodically for potential new additions of U.S. whole milk powder suppliers, as additional production comes online.

The United States is the world's largest single-country producer of whey ingredients, with a diversified portfolio focused on sweet whey, whey protein concentrates, whey protein isolates, and whey permeates. The United States does produce some demineralized whey, but production is currently limited in comparison.

In the United States, the production of infant and toddler formulas is highly regulated, with manufacturing concentrated among a few select players, who primarily only produce branded products or have extensive existing private-label commitments. If you are interested in sourcing dairy ingredients as key components to manufacture infant/toddler formulas in your own country, you can search the U.S. Dairy Supplier Directory for purveyors of those ingredients.

Suppliers often offer a variety of shipment options, with the most common format being a full container load (FCL). For smaller volumes, you may want to contact traders/brokers or a local distributor in your local market carrying U.S. dairy products.
