For the Complete protein Package, Look to U.S. Dairy

Visit IFT booth #S1427 to taste and learn why all proteins are not created equal

ARLINGTON, Va., June 21, 2018 – The U.S. Dairy Export Council (USDEC) will showcase how U.S. dairy proteins can deliver benefits both food companies and consumers are seeking via innovative prototypes at the 2018 Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) Annual Meeting & Food Expo, July 15–18, in Chicago.

Rising consumer demand for protein has multinational food companies looking to diversify protein sourcing, but choosing the right protein ingredient is imperative to delivering on key attributes consumers want.

Because dairy proteins are high-quality and complete proteins, they uniquely address formulator needs to meet consumer demand for sustainably produced, nutritious, functional, versatile, securely sourced ingredients for use in food and beverage products.

“No other protein can provide this breadth of functionality while ensuring the simple ingredient list and neutral flavor profile that consumers desire,” said Kara McDonald, vice president, Global Marketing Communications at USDEC. “Global appetite is expanding, and we want to show how, as the world’s largest producer of cow’s milk and whey ingredients, the U.S. dairy industry can help formulators meet consumer demand for clean labels, quality protein and day-to-day convenience at scale.”

There is a large and growing body of published nutrition research studies that affirms dairy protein’s benefits across life stages, such as supporting weight management, enhancing post-exercise recovery and assisting in muscle maintenance for healthy aging. Proteins naturally found in milk are unmatched in the delivery of essential acids for the body including leucine which is important to kick-start muscle protein synthesis.

Knowing that busy consumers around the world are looking for snacks to help deliver these benefits, USDEC, in partnership with affiliated university application labs, developed two prototypes available at booth #S1427 that bring dairy protein benefits to life in trendy, on-the-go applications showcasing dairy ingredients:

USDEC has an extensive network of staff and representatives around the world including Asia, the Middle East and North Africa, Latin America and the United States. Experts will be available throughout IFT to answer questions and share more about the broad portfolio of U.S. dairy ingredients that meet varying tastes, mineral contents, functional properties and more.

A new technical report detailing how U.S. Dairy delivers important functionality to a variety of applications in the crowded protein marketplace will also be available at the USDEC booth.

Additional events at IFT that will address the benefits and potential applications of dairy proteins include:

  • 10:30 a.m.–12 p.m. (CDT), Monday, July 16: The Unique Nutrition and Feeding Needs of Infants and Toddlers: Considerations for Product Development, S405AB
  • 3:30–5 p.m. (CDT), Monday, July 16: Recent Developments in Application of Membrane Filtration Technologies for Cheese and Beverage Manufacture, S502AB
